As part of a military family, Sophie had a nomadic lifestyle growing up. Originally born in Cyprus she has also lived in Northern Ireland, Germany, Scotland, England and Australia. Sophies family had an array of pets ranging from praying mantises, Rex the rat (to her mother’s dismay) and Keo the crossbreed dog from Cyprus. Visits to the family’s farm on Isle of Bute and growing up with a menagerie of pets made Sophie realise how passionate she was about animals and inspired her to pursue a career in the veterinary industry. Sophie volunteered at multiple animal facilities before gaining a FdSc in Animal Health and Management in 2015. After a stint in Australia playing rugby, she returned to the UK once again.
In 2017 Sophie joined the Shore Veterinary Centre team and is looking to qualify as a Veterinary Care Assistant later in the year. She thoroughly enjoys her role in the practice and is continuing to develop her knowledge with the help of the fantastic team around her. Outside of work Sophie enjoys visiting family and friends, playing sport and walking her dog Terrance, another rescue dog from Cyprus.
