Consultations
Consultations are by appointment only.
The standard duration of our consultations is 15 minutes, but for some conditions we will double this for no extra charge.
We'll make sure there will be plenty of time to examine your pet, perform diagnostic tests if necessary, and to make sure there are no questions left unanswered about your pet's condition.
Vaccinations and Boosters
Although annual boosters have recently received some bad press, we believe that they have an important role to play in preventing serious illness.
Such an annual visit is invaluable in detecting disease at an early stage.
A thorough health check, including a weight recording will be made during your pet’s annual booster visit.
Moreover, when you bring in your new puppy or kitten for its first vaccination, we allow a generous half hour for a thorough health check, advice about food, parasite prevention, house training, behaviour, pet health insurance, neutering, and to answer any questions you may have about your most recent addition to the family.
Operations and Dental Surgery
A large range of surgical procedures are undertaken at the Shore Veterinary Centre.
Routine elective surgery such as neutering and dental surgery are performed on a daily basis, but more complicated procedures are undertaken too. Whatever surgery it is your pet may need, you can be sure that the most up to date anaesthesia, surgical techniques and materials will be used.
We have a range of anaesthetic monitoring devices including ECG, Blood Pressure Measurement and Pulse Oximetry.
And most importantly: fully qualified veterinary nursing staff overseeing all this.
Diagnostic tests and Imaging
In some cases clinical examination alone is not enough to diagnose your pet's condition.
The practice is equipped with an in house blood analyzer which will give us results in minutes for emergency situations, ultrasound and X-ray machines to allow us to see if a problem is more than skin deep.
We use a number of external laboratories which provide us with an expert opinion and a fast reliable service.
Weight Clinics
Sometimes it is not easy for our pets to stay at their ideal weight.
Although some diseases can be responsible for this too, a well managed weight loss program can help with this problem.
Our veterinary nurses are here to help you and your pet to stay motivated with low calorie diets, regular weight checks and moral support.
Travelling with your pet
Even though it has become easier to take your pet abroad when you go on holiday, planning such a trip can be fraught with difficulties.
We will help you make the process more transparent with a step by step plan for placing the microchip, rabies vaccination, blood sampling and finalizing your pet's passport.
Two of our vets are certified Local Veterinary Inspectors (LVIs) and are authorized by the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department to carry out small animal export certification.
