About Shore Veterinary Centre

The Shore Veterinary Centre was founded in 1992 by Nigel Martin. The driving force behind establishing the practice then is still one of our core values now: to provide the most up to date preventative medicine to keep your animal in the best possible health, and the very best available veterinary care in times of need if your pet may become ill.

Nigel Martin BVM&S CertVR MRCVS

Graduated in 1981 from the University of Edinburgh Royal (Dick) Vet school and obtained a certificate in Veterinary Radiology in 1991. Worked as veterinary surgeon in Singapore, England and Scotland before setting up his own practice in Gourock.

Deborah Forrester BVMS MRCVS

Graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 1986. Worked in Gateshead Veterinary Hospital, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Joined the Shore Veterinary Centre in 2005 after a career break.

Rosie Buchanan VN

Qualified Listed veterinary nurse since 1988. She has worked locally since qualifying and has been with the practice ever since it was founded. She has a soft spot for hairy dogs and owns "the brown dog" Paddy the Border Terrier.

Alyson Doolan VN

Joined the practice in 1993 after leaving school and been with us ever since.  Alyson trained at the practice and became a qualified listed veterinary nurse in 2000. Alyson has no pets of her own since her cat Betty sadly passed away, but finds plenty of animals to pamper during working hours.

Jill Blair

Working as a nurse since 1978 and worked in various practices before joining the Shore Veterinary Centre in 1996. Jill is the proud owner of her dogs Hugo aka "Shug the Dug" and Whiz, her rescue cats Wilf and Simba, a guinea pig called Smudge, a hamster called Ollie, and Dyson and Pheobe the bearded dragons. So whatever pet you've got, she'll be able to handle it!

Roseanne McGillivray. VN

Roseanne qualified as a VN in 1983 and has been employed in general practice in the West of Scotland, as well as a short spell in Australia. She also worked for a year at the Glasgow Vet School. Roseanne is the proud owner of two young tabby cats.
